It is low tide in Beaufort at 9 AM. We will immediately shuttle to Brickyard Landing. The paddle will go past downtown Beaufort and then up the intercostals waterway past the Marine Air Station to Brickyard landing.

This is a car pool trip to save gas. Meet at the Mt. Pleasant Wal-Mart at 8:00 AM to load boats on to various trailers. This is the Wal-mart on HWY 17, about 3 miles from the bridge. It is not the new super center way out of town. Club members with trailers will be asked to do the driving. Those riding in the car should offer a few dollars to help with gas. Leave the parking lot at 8:30 AM. Hook up with any others at the Wal-Mart shopping center on Hwy 701 in Georgetown and leave at 9:30. and proceed to Punch Bowl Landing.
In Georgetown take 701 and stay on 701 to the Pee Dee River Rd. This is approx. 23 miles from the Wal-Mart shopping center. After you cross the Great Pee Dee it is approx. two miles to the Pee Dee River Rd. You will turn left exactly at the Pee Dee River Rd. green sign. Proceed about eight miles and turn left on Kates Bay Rd. It is a dirt road that goes directly to the landing. There is no longer a sign for Punch Bowl Landing so carefully watch for the road.

Go up Guendalose Creek out to Great Pee Dee and loop back down Thoroughfare Creek. Portions of the paddle will be against the tide and can make paddle time four-five hours, not including breaks. |

Optional camping will be at Givhans Ferry State Park.
Some club members will be camping in the main campground on Friday and Saturday nights. Anyone wishing to camp in this campground should make reservations at
http://www.southcarolinaparks.com/park-finder/state-park/1219/camping.aspx. A two night minimum is required.
The club has also reserved a section in the primitive area. Bathrooms are nearby, but no power or water is available at individual tent sites. Contact Ralph Earhart 509 3037 if you are interested in camping in this area. In this area, you may camp for one or both nights. Cost is $12 for up to 10 campers..

After arriving on the island, paddlers can drop off food, gear, etc and then participate in two trips. One will be only a few miles (perhaps circumnavigating Church Island) and the other will be longer. Each trip is expected to take about an hour upon arriving.
