LCP paddle April 6 on the Stono River
Author Last Post
  • PADDLE CANCELLED

The Sunday April 6 paddle is cancelled as no one is signing on. Get online and check out next weekends paddle Ralph is leading on the Edisto. We drove over it today and the water was looking really good. I know I'll be out there.

The water is warming up so get out and enjoy it.

OK. We're making a change on Sundays paddle due to the forecasted wind. We're launching from Limehouse landing and exploring the Stono River below that point. We'll have protection from the worst of any wind. There is a great island down there to stop over for a lunch break. Launch is the same time, 9 am. For those who do not know this landing, as you drive to the water stay to the left. There is a good hard shore there for us to launch from. Note this is busy power boat launch, but this early meeting time on a Sunday should work well for us.

Again--The Slo Legare paddle to Kiawah for this coming Sunday has now been changed to launching from Limeboouse bridge landing, 9 am launch. This is now rater an L2 paddle. Come on out it looks like a nice day.

Dan,
Thank you for your email.  I was just getting ready to "sign on" the trip.....it was a great trip. Our springs are certainly know for winds and sudden showers.

Thank you
Susan Hancock

Good Morning fellow paddlers,

If your watching the weather you may have noticed they are now forecasting some heavy winds from the SW for our paddle. From this direction they'll be in our face all the way down the Stono. Great tailwind for the return, but you have to get downriver first. I'm now thinking of an alternate trip that negates the wind. The first option is launch from Limehouse and paddle downriver with the tide along the Johns Island shore. We'll protected by Johns Island. If anyone knows of a second option please speak up. If we stay flexible we can still have a great day on the water. I know I'm ready to get out. How about you?

Stay Tuned

Dan

Hi Everyone,

If you haven’t already noticed, we have a club paddle this Sunday. Sol Legare landing down the Stono to a sandy shore on Kiawah and back, 8-9 miles total. Two hardy paddlers have now signed on. My plan is to follow the shoreline down and cross over down by Kiawah. This is open water, bringing on the L3 rating. You’ll want a 14” kayak with a skeg or rudder and a spray skirt. Hopefully you won’t need the skirt.

The NOAA forecast is for high 80 temps. Wind is up in the air at the moment. Watch it. Water temp in the harbor today is about 67. Last spring I took a swim at 68 degrees and it was not bad at all.

Launch time is 9 am from Sol Legare. Get there early to beat any pwr boat rush.

Very Important Note: This is the begging of our summer season. Go check out the LCP schedule as we are paddling almost every weekend, NOW.

Fill up your calendar with paddles.
