About this event
Non club members and member guests must contact the trip leader before the trip.
Boat type, size, and paddling skills should be discussed with the trip leader.
Rating: L3, sheltered
Where: Meet at Wambaw Creek Bridge and be ready to launch by 9:00. (Put Wambaw
Creek Boat Ramp in your mapping app. Do not be confused with Wambaw Creek Still
Landing...that is the wrong landing).
Launch by 9:00 .
Logistics: High tide on the Santee at Chicken Creek intersection is about 10:00. We’ll
go against the incoming tide for about 2 miles going out Wambaw Creek. The incoming
tide will help us go up the South Santee River. We’ll take a break along the Santee River
and then paddle back with the falling tide to Wambaw Creek, where the last 2 miles will
be against the outgoing tide.
Expect to be back at the landing by 3:00
Trip leader: Ralph Earhart
Note 1: We will have about 4 miles total going against the tide, but on Wambaw Creek, it
really is not much of an issue.
Note 2: If the Santee River is high, this will not work. If that happens, we’ll do a 9 mile
paddle from McConnells Landing down to the Wambaw Creek Bridge. We’ll meet by
10:00 at the Wambaw Creek Bridge, adjust boats on vehicles and shuttle up to
McConnells Landing to launch.
