Hey Dan, I cannot paddle tomorrow, have kidney stones! but I do have a trailer that will hold 3-4 kayaks and a truck to help ferry people up river with all their gear if you need me, I am glad to be there in the am if you get this in time.

Thanks for these invites I will make one sooner or later. Feel free to call me tonight or in the early am if you need my trailer and truck.

Morning,

Saturday is looking to be a gorgeous day for a paddle. The river level is under 7.5 feet and I don't expect this rain today will make a huge difference. If your ready for an Easter weekend paddle consider joining us. If your worried about my previous paddle stroke thoughts, we can go over that early on in the paddle and have you stopping mid-river like a pro.. 16 miles is a lot of miles, but the river is flowing at a good clip. You'll be tired by the end of the day, but it won't feel like a 16 mile day. If this were 8 miles it'd feel too short at the finish. Susan Vigen was out with us yesterday and recently did and Edisto River paddle and noted the river was moving so nicely about all they had to do was steer. Meanwhile I hope everyone has a good Easter weekend and we'll see you out on the water sometime soon.

Dan

That's life. Will miss you.

Hello Everyone,

Next Saturday is the 16 mile paddle down the Edisto river. It is rated an L3 due to the length of the paddle, 16 miles. That is about right for this river at this time of year. One major factor I'm watching is the water level, especially with the rains we're seeing. Above 10' is considered flood stage on the Edisto and about the limit I'd want to take a group down it. If your thinking of joining us you might want to keep an eye on that. I don't want to scare anyone off though. With these levels the river moves along nicely which will make for a quicker run. It also means you need to watchful of items downstream and where the current is pushing you. A couple strokes that you want to have in your quiver is a good back paddle to stop you in place one any moving water. Another is the ferry stroke to allow you to move right and left in the river flow. These two strokes also come in handy in strong tidal flows. If you feel a bit weak on these strokes consider signing up for one of our free lessons. I do expect this to be a beautiful paddle. Hopefully some good wildflowers will be blooming, so if you feel you have the skill to join us consider it. I'll give you a call before next Saturday and we can talk about the paddle, See you on the river.
