Sandy Island, White Creek, and Vaux Creek (near Murrells Inlet). About 6 miles.
Non-club members and member guests must contact the trip leader before the trip. Boat type, size, and paddling skills should be discussed with the trip leader.
Meet at Wacca Wache Marina in time to launch by 11. Put Wacca Wache Marina in your mapping app. (This is about 1 ½ hours from Mt Pleasant..but check the drive time on your mapping app before the day of the trip).
Rating: L2, semi-sheltered. Logistics: Low tide at Wachesaw Landing is 11:15. We will be going a bit against the tide on this trip but will be using back creeks and canals.
Trip Leader: Hastings Hensel
Note 1: Free parking at the upper parking lot; paddlers must unload kayaks at the landing, then go park at the lot and walk back down...about a 5-minute walk.
Note 2: We will paddle downriver to White Creek, then take White Creek up to Vaux Creek (1.5 – 2 hours), then get out for a short hike and snacks on Sandy Island in the Nature Conservancy Preserve (1 hour), then make our way back to the landing (30 minutes – 1 hour). It is a 4-hour trip in total
