Stono River

Stono River Sol Legare to James Island County Park loop trip About 12 miles.

Non-club members and member guests must contact the trip leader before the trip. Boat type, size, and paddling skills should be discussed with the trip leader.

Meet at Sol Legare Public Boat Landing (available in mapping apps) at 9:00am for a 9:30am launch.

Rating: L3, Semi-Open, quick pace

Logistics: High tide is 11:35. Wind will likely be a factor on this wide river! Expect to travel at a quick pace – 3mph; kayaks 14 feet or longer required to maintain group pace. We will land at the James Island County Park dock and have lunch there. We will ride the current back down the Stono to Sol Legare boat launch. Expect to be back by 3:00 pm.

Note 1: Contact the trip leader if there is any question about the kayak length requirement.
Note 2: There are a good number of single-car parking spots, as well as many trailer parking places.
