July 12 (Saturday): Wando River: Paradise Island landing into Frances Marion Forest Loop trip. About 12 miles.
Rating: L2, semi sheltered, smooth pace
Where: Be ready to launch from Paradise Landing by 10:00. Put Paradise Boat Landing in your mapping app.
Logistics: High tide in the forest is about 1:45. We want a lot of water in the narrow section of the river.. We’ll paddle with the tide into the forest until the river becomes too narrow to proceed. We’ll turn back and stop at a “get out place” in the forest that we would have passed on the way upstream for a break. We’ll paddle back against the very last of the incoming tide.
Expect to be back at the landing by 3:00

Note 1: Ralph Earhart will hold a “Tide Talk” session from 9-9:30. He will talk about tidal stations, planning trips around the time of the tide change, and river levels after heavy rains. You can read about this topic on pages 44-49 in his Update to the 5th edition via a link on the club’s home page.
Even if you do not plan to paddle, you are welcome to join him at 9AM.
Cuckholds (Folly Creek) Boat Landing

July 19 (Saturday): Cuckolds Creek to Sandbar on Combahee (near Steel Bridge Landing). About 14 miles.
Rating: L3, semi sheltered, smooth pace
Where: Meet at Cuckolds Creek Landing and be ready to launch by 9:30. Put Cuckolds (Folly Creek) Boat Landing in your mapping app.
Logistics: Low tide at Steel Bridge Landing is about noon. Be ready to launch from Cuckolds Creek Landing by 9:45. We’ll paddle with the tide down to a sandbar on the Combahee River, take a break, and then paddle back with the incoming tide.
Expect to be back at the landing by 2:30

July 26 (Saturday): Limehouse Landing toward Wadmalaw Island About 8 miles.
Rating: L2
Where: Limehouse Boat Landing
Logistics: Launch from grassy area to the left of the boat ramp at 9:30am and paddle the Stono River out towards Wadmalaw Island where the Stono becomes the Wadmalaw River. It is not likely that there will be a place to take out, but we will search for a suitable spot. High tide at Limehouse is 11:40am. We expect to paddle with the current both ways.

Riverland Terrace Boat Landing

Logistics: Launch from Riverland Terrace at 9:00am and paddle around Coburg Creek and back to the launch.

Remley's Point Boat Landing

Paradise Island to Remleys Point. About 16 miles.
Rating: L3+, Open water
Where: Meet at Remleys Point Landing by 7:30 and offload as many boats as possible on to vehicles that can Cary extra boats. Leave for Paradise Landing by 7:45.Launch time is 8:30.
Logistics: Low tide at Hobcaw Point is 2:45. We’ll paddle down with the tide, planning to stop for a break at Cat Island, HWY 41, and, if necessary, on the sand bank at the entrances to Hobcaw Creek.
Plan to be at Remleys point by 3PM.

Where: Launch from Paradise Island Boat landing by 2PM. Paddle down to cat Island and look for sharks’ teeth for about an hour. Then return with the incoming tide.
Logistics: Low tide at Cat Island is about 3.
Expect to be back to the landing by 5:30.

August 16 (Saturday): Edisto River, Penny Creek to Willtown Bluff (about 7 miles) or Penny Creek to Willtown Bluff sandbar and then back to Penny Creek loop trip (about 13 miles)
Rating: 7 miles trip: L1, semi sheltered
13 mile trip L2 semi sheltered
Where: Meet (yes meet..not launch… at Penny Creek Boat Landing by 8:15 and run shuttle down to Willtown Bluff for those going just one way. Launch upon return from the shuttle. DO NOT BE LATE if you are going 1 way…you need your car left at Willtown Bluff and need to participate in the shuttle.
Logistics: Low tide at Willtown Bluff is about 10:30. The tide will carry all one way paddlers down to the take out and the incoming tide will help all the “down and backers” return.
One way paddlers expect to be at Willtown Landing by 11:00.
Round trippers expect to be back to Penny Creek Landing by 2:30

Note 1: Round trip paddlers will stop at the sandbar before Willtown Bluff Landing. We’ll cool down, and eat before returning. One way paddlers will continue on to Willtown Landing.

August 23(Saturday): Penny Creek and 3 Edisto River rice field canals. About 8.5 miles.
Rating:L2, sheltered
Where: Penny Creek Bost landing. Be ready to launch by 9:30.
Logistics: High tide at the intersection with the Edisto River is 11;00. Paddle against the last 2 hours of the incoming tide down Penny Creek. Turn right on the Edisto River and go through a set of canals on the right-hand side of the river. Cross over and go through another set of canals across the river, finishing up with another canal on the seaward side of Peny Creek. We’ll also go through a short cut canal both going and returning on Penny Creek.
Plan to be back at the landing by 3.

Note 1: We will be going against the tide both going out and then returning.
Note 2: There is no “good” place to get out on this high tide paddle. Plan to get out in waist deep water on the sandbar across from the entrance to Penny Creek. We can help each other get back in our boats.

September 4 ( Thursday) ..yes Thursday..not Saturday: Sullivans Island, Station 26 and out to the ICWW to watch the full moon. No more than 6 miles..We’re moon watching.

Where:Launch from Sullivans Island, Station 26 Boat Ramp by 7:15 PM.
Logistics: High tide is 6:22 PM and moon rise is 6:02PM. Sunset is 7:40. We’ll paddle down towards the harbor and watch sunset and then find a good place to watch the moon.
Expect to be back a the landing by 9PM

Riverland Terrance Boat Landing

September 13 (Saturday) : Riverland Terrace Boat landing to John’s Island Creek and Stono River West Ashley small creek, finishing by going down Wappoo Creek to Riverland Terrace Landing. About 9.5 miles.
Rating: L2, Lightly sheltered
Where: Launch from Riverland Terrace Boat Landing by 12:00.
Logistics: High tide at Elliotts Cut is about 2 PM. Paddle through Elliotts Cut, across the Stono River and explore a creek on Johns Island, then cross back across the Stono and go up a small creek . Take a break at a friend’s dock at about the 3.5 mile mark, then proceed back to Riverland Terrace Landing by going back through Wappoo Creek, not Elliotts Cut. Tide will help us going out and turn and help coming back.
Expect to be back at the launch site by 4:30

Rating: L2, Moderately Sheltered
Logistics: High tide at I-526 is at 12:16 pm. We’ll take the tide up to I-526 and then return, stopping by club member Mike Lanterman’s dock for a break. We’ll continue with the falling tide back to Remley‘s Point.
Expect to be back at the landing by 3:30.

Logistics: Low tide is about 12:15. Plan to spend up to 1-2 hours exploring the beach before returning.
Plan to be back at the landing no later than 3:30.

Oct 11 (Saturday): Circumnavigate Daniel Island. About 17 miles.
Rating: L3+, Open water on the final leg
Where: Remleys Point Landing: launch by 9:30.
Logistic: High tide at Clouter Creek..the top of the loop is at 12:45. Ride the incoming tide up to there and take the falling tide down the Cooper River and over to Remleys Point. We’ll find a couple of spots to get out.

October 18 (Saturday): Shem Creek Landing with short side trip down "Golf Ball Creek" and then circumnavigate Crab Bank. About 6 miles total.
Rating: L2. We will be crossing the Charleston Harbor for a brief time.

Boat type, size, and paddling skills should be discussed with the trip leader.
Where; Meet at Shem Creek Landing in time to offload boats, park, and be ready to launch by 10:30 am. (Put Shem Creek Boat landing in your mapping app.)
Logistics: Low tide is at 12:34 pm. Offload boats at the landing (on Simmons Street) and then proceed around the corner to the big parking area. Trailers can park there. Cars must use street parking. It‘s free, but you may have to search a little.
Should be off the water by 3.

October 25 (Saturday): Quenby landing to Huger Landing, then down the Cooper to a creek before Pompion Chapel and under a bridge, then return to Quenby . About 11 miles.
Rating:L3, sheltered
Where: Launch from Quenby Landing (Put Ralph Hammer Boat landing in your mapping app) by 11:00.
Logistics: High tide at Quenby Landing is 3:30 PM. About half of the paddle will be against the tide…but it is only about a 2 foot differential between low and high tide. ..but paddling against the tide makes this an L3, up from an L2.
Expect to be back before 4:00.

Note 2: Possible self directed activities are; lunch on the island, go for a swim, practice launching into surf and nap in the sun.
Note 3: Anyone interested in camping needs to contract Don Dibble ASAP so he can get necessary permits for Capers Island Camping on Saturday night.
Note 4: Campers plan to launch by 10:30 on Sunday and be at the landing before noon.
Note 5: If camping is scheduled, need a volunteer from day trippers to lead those paddlers back on Saturday.

Nov 8 (Saturday): Creekside Park in Hanahan on the Goose Creek Loop trip. About 5 mmiles or 8 miles.
Rating: 5 mile trip L1, sheltered
8 mile trip: L2, sheltered
Where: Launch from Creekside Park, Stewart Street, Hanahan by 11:00.
Logistics: High tide on Goose Creek at the dam is about 12: Paddle with the incoming tide to the dan, take a short break, and paddle back with the falling tide.
Option is to go an additional 1.5 miles down Goose Creek after passing the launch site to a “sandy” bank. We’ll take a break there and then paddle back..against the tide.
Expect to be back from the 5 mile trip by 1:30.
Expect to be back from the 8 mile paddle by 3:15.

Note 1; The launch site is a “good” distance from the parking area. Bring wheels for your kayak if you have them.
Note 2: if you have wheels, please plan to come early enough so others can borrow your wheels and get their boats down to the launch site.
Note 3: It would be “best” due to sharing wheels if most paddlers arrived about an hour before launch time.
Notes 4: Ther are brand new restrooms at the park.
Remley's Point Boat Landing

Where: Meet at Remleys Point Boat landing and be ready to launch by 9:30.
Logistics: Low tide is about 11:15. Launch from Remleys point and head to Patriots Point. Cross the channel to Shutes Folly. Lunch at the Battery beach. Return past the aquarium, north or Drum island and back to Remleys Point.
Expect to be back by 2:00.

All LCP Members and any family member guests are invited to gather for a potluck dinner. We will feast and maybe sing a few carols, but mostly just get together and have some fun.
The venue is provided by LCP Member Scott Fletcher, at the clubhouse in the complex near Toler‘s Cove Marina, Mount Pleasant. This is located just off of Ben Sawyer Blvd before you get to Ben Sawyer bridge.
